What is COPPA?

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law that governs how websites, apps, and online services collect and manage personal information from children under the age of 13. It requires operators to provide clear notice to parents, obtain verifiable parental consent, and implement strong safeguards around data collection and usage.

How InZone Complies with COPPA

We are fully committed to complying with COPPA and have designed our product experience to meet or exceed the requirements of this important law. Here's how:

1. Parental Consent & Access Controls

  • InZone does not allow any child under the age of 13 to sign up without verified parental or guardian consent.

  • Our Parent Hub gives caregivers visibility into their child's in-app experience, including AI interactions, posts, and group activity.

2. Limited Data Collection

  • We collect only the minimum necessary personal information needed to support the core functionality of our app.

  • Sensitive data such as exact location, contact information, or biometric identifiers are never collected from users under 13.

3. Transparent Practices

  • We provide a plain-language privacy policy designed to be easily understood by both parents and young users.

  • All data handling practices — including what we collect, how we use it, and with whom it's shared — are disclosed up front.

4. Age-Appropriate AI & Content Filtering

  • Our AI features are specifically tuned for younger users, with strict filtering in place to block mature, harmful, or manipulative content.

  • Users and parents can opt out of specific topics using our Content BlockOut system.

5. Secure Data Handling

  • We use industry-standard encryption and access control protocols to protect all personal information we collect.

  • Data is stored securely and only accessible to authorized team members on a need-to-know basis.

6. Ongoing Review & Updates

  • We regularly review our data practices and platform features to ensure we remain in full compliance with COPPA.

  • Our legal and product teams collaborate closely to respond to evolving guidance and maintain child-safe design principles.
